2004 VENTANA DRY ROSADO
Winemaking Notes
VENTANA DRY ROSADO
While frowned upon in this country, Rosés are a very important part of everyday life in the south of Europe. The difference? There they are dry and often very serious wines. Here? Historically they were very sweet and came in charming gallon jugs. Our Dry Rosado is done in the European style, barrel fermented and handled just like the fine Chardonnays but in neutral barrels. A warm day, some sautéed vegetables in olive oil and garlic, fresh bread and an ice-cold bottle of Rosado (Spanish for Rose) is one form of heaven.
Tasting Notes
Ventana's Dry Rosé is created in the Classic South-of-France style - dry and delicious! Strawberry and watermelon tones for the nose combine with "candied apple" and red fruit flavors for the palate. The wine finishes with dry crisp acidity to refresh the soul and quench the thirst. Drink quite chilled with summer-time fare such as grilled vegetables and pasta salads, marinated olives and roasted garlic.
